The 2015 John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon officially started January 25, with mushers leaving the starting chute in Two Harbors, MN. Traditionally, the race begins in Duluth, MN; because of less-than-average snow levels this year, the race start was moved north to Two Harbors, shortening the course by 65 miles. Over the next four days, teams will travel 319 miles up the North Shore of Lake Superior, battling blowing snow, elevation hikes and demanding terrain.
As a proud sponsor of the Marathon, we spent the weekend with the athletes, race officials, dignitaries and amazing volunteers that make this race the premier sled dog event in the lower 48. Below is a gallery that captures the excitement of race weekend in Duluth – from the pre-race vet checks, to the cub run, to the starting line.
